Tuesday 30 September 2008     FA Cup    home

   Garforth Town  2:2  Guiseley

Following the dramatic conclusion to Saturdays drawn tie this was very much a game of two halves at Cedar Ridge Guiseley yesterday evening where Guiseley eventually got the better of their hosts with goals from Steve Burton, David Brown and Brice Tiani.

In a strangely subdued first half Greg Kelly escaped the attentions of Danny Ellis for Nick Jagger to bring an acrobatic save from Piotr Skiba. Steve Burton had a deflected free kick palmed away by Gavin Phyllis and Muller put an effort just the wrong side of the upright.

James Cotterill should have done better with a header at the far post after having been left unmarked but it was not until the second period that the game finally came alive. The injured James Hanson was replaced by David Brown and Chris Ovington made way for Brice Tiani.

Almost immediately, the Lions went forward and a pass across the box was intercepted by Brett Renshaw - who was involved in Muller's sending of on Saturday - only for the ball to fall to Steve Burton who made no mistake with  low shot wide of Phyllis into the far corner.

More was to follow for the travelling fans as Simeon Bambrook bounced a free kick of the crossbar before Muller's shot was blocked and Phyllis did got down well to save Tiani's effort into the path of David Brown who steered the ball in from all of four yards.

With their lead established it looked as though the game would amble along to a conclusion but a momentary lapse from Skiba, when he went down to collect an easy ball which then found its way under his body and over the line, restored the host belief that they could repeat Saturdays comeback again.

Guiseley absorbed the home pressure and then sealed the victory in the dying minutes with Tiani ending a run with a shot wide of Phyllis the third. Phyllis also pulled off a last ditch save to deny Muller as the clock ticked down.
